) --> better ask OUP for their pricing strategy la .... hahaa!! :lol: :lol:

Actually MK is not VERY difficult. But the books contain more words (comparable to ORT stage 7-8) and the concepts should be difficult to understand by pre-schoolers. As I mentioned earlier, they are suitable for primary kids in HK.

btw, MK also got VCD (vol 1-6) for some of its book titles, you may buy 1 to understand more (price HK$49.9)

My son is now 7y, studying in P1 (EMI), and his class library carries a lot of MK books.
==> I guess you can equate MK books with P1.
The MK books are a bit more difficult than ORT Stage 7.

Yes .... as MK is aided in teaching sentence structure and how to write passage instead of just telling stories la.

Though the words used are not difficult, the concept behind is not easy to understand by v small kids.

Actual I've compared one of the OST books with the same title of ORT. The wordings are a little bit different cause OST is the adaptation of ORT which is published in UK. Maybe it is the reason for the price difference ?

(school using) Engl as major medium of instruction.
(You will know these terms once your kid is in K2/K3, and you need to choose the right primary school for him/her.)

. I'm now wondering to buy MK series or not as my son like MK vcd and he already finished ORT read at home stages 1-4, ORT stages 1, 1+, 1+ patterned stories, stage 2, 2A, Duck Green starter stage, stage 1, fireflies stage 1, first phonics stages 1+, 2, rhymes stories, glow-worms stage 1-2. Will it be too early for buying MK books for him

You're wrong this time la.

Those additional 6 titles under M&S Magic Key (special edition) are actually story books extracted from ORT Stage 6 & 7 & 6A. I bid them from ebay before and found the truth when I received the goods !! :-( :-(

btw, I sold them to Blue* afterwards la.

Actually there are new titles published under the original OUP MK series:-

- The Fountain of Youth
- Tumbleweed Desert
- Underwater World
- The Stone of Contentment
- The Demon Drill
- The Sound Monster
- Fabulous Fancy Foods

I still haven't got those book yet!!

Just handing $1xxx to ORT? Oh.... you're just at the v beginning and still have a long way to go !! I've handed almost $1x,xxx ah!!

Of course not la. You may request some bookstores (that you're familiar with) to order the MK for you from HK OUP, provided those books are still in print.

However, for titles which have been out of print, think ebay seems to be the only mean la.

How old is you kid now? If he/she is has just started reading stage 1/2, may be a bit earlier to read MK wor!!

May consider to buy when he/she attends primary school la.

He is now 27 months old. Except read at home (up to stage 4)and talking stories cd-rom (up to stage 3), he just finished stage 1/2.

I also spent $1x,xxx in ORT series la :-( :-( (Trunk stories + patterned stories + phonics + ryhmes books+ read at home + fireflies + glow-worms + duck green + variety)
