We are moving back to HK after living here for 16 years. I have a son who is nearly 3 and am currently pregnant with my no.2.
We will move in with my parents for the time being (I'm lucky that my parent's house have 2 spare rooms) and we'll see from there.
I'm kinda split between looking forward to a new life in HK and wanting to stay here in London. The main reason we're moving is that my hubby is really not doing well here (he's in architecture) so we're hoping he can have a better career in HK.
I'm also worried that my son will struggle in the local kindergarten system. He's been going to a Montessori Nursery since he's two and he only knows a handful of letters and numbers and certainly no Chinese characters!
How are your children coping with the changes? I've asked my son many times whether he wants to move to HK and he keeps telling me no!
I came back to HK 5 years ago and delivered a baby on 13/8/2012 in HK, we may want to move to UK, I am British citizen but because baby was born in HK so cannot obtain British citizenship! So down!!!!

If you are British citizen, isn't it your baby also British citizen no matter where he/she was born UKBA always change the rule so it's confusing. How about your hubby, is he British citizen
Hi I am new in here. I have been relocated back to HK since 2009 after 15 years living in the UK. i have only one boy who is five and studying local kindergarten. My husband is also from HK so he insists the boy should go to the local school rather than international school. I miss the life in London but unfortunately family reason, my hushand wants to spend more time with family in here. Schooling in HK is crazy and some of the parents surprise me a lot by their behaviour such as showing off how many ECA their child is attending, how many awards, certificates they got in order to apply P1. Gosh... I cannot believe they are so competitive.
