For 300D, when using int/ext flash, the photo usually will be a bit under. So we usually need to set the FEC to +1/3 or +2/3 by connecting the 300D to a PC.
Or buy an expensive exteral flash 550ex which got this function...
If your cam got an accurate exporsure when using flash, then this function might not be very useful. And of course, if you know how to adjust the power of the flash manuelly, then this one is also not very useful.
Translate from Russian to English... (not sure it's correct or not)

I have been following the Russian Hack threads on DPReview losely in the last couple of months. Some of the features are nice (FEC, more continous shots etc) but I dare not upgrade the firmware...
Are there any brave souls who have tried this and can confirm the firmware works perfectly on their 300D?
These two days used my 300D with ver 4 hack frimware.. took over 100 photos. No errors, every work normally. It is good!
PS : Last time when I sent my 300D to Canon for checking, I forgot to change the FEC back to normal (by using the PC program). but so far Canon haven't said a word about it. After I collected it back, the FEC setting is still +2/3.
OK, I have taken the plunge just now, and installed the hack firmware. It is the E3kr111M.rar version. Everything seems to be working fine, and will be playing around with it a bit this week.
You should be able to get the downlaod from http://satinfo.narod.ru/download.html it's slow though, let me know if you want a copy, and I can email it thru (1.7m) - was checking on dpreview, and it seems this version is the same as the alllang version.
i have lost track of the version number. This version of the hack uses the 'set' button instead of the 'wb' button to change FEC, and it has also solved the problem of the blinking red-eye - is this the same version as the one u r using?
